Green Chutney

    Chutneys can add zest to most meal. In India, you will usually find a selection of different kinds served in tiny bowls for
    people to choose from. Chutneys are also known to increase one’s appetite and aid digestion.

    Serves 6:
    Preparation time: 10 minutes

  • Mint 1 small bunch.
  • Tomato – 1 large
  • Coriander – 1 large bunch.
  • Green Chillie – 1
  • Lime – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon or to taste.

  • Add mint, tomato, coriander, green chillie, lemon juice and salt in a blender.

  • Blend all the ingredients to a paste.

  • Pour in a serving bowl and serve with all kinds of fried starters, viz. samosa, onion bhaji, pakora and others.

    Add desiccated coconut, handful of peanuts, ginger and tamarind for a slight variation. Add more sugar or chillies to suit
    your specific taste preferences.

    Chutney can be made and preserved for a few days in the refrigerator!
